Costa Rica has a tropical climate. In the lowlands the temperature falls to 22 degrees Celsius in the wet season (May-November), while in the dry season (the Costa Rican “summer”, December-April) the temperature reaches 36 degrees. In the rainy season Costa Rica transforms to a green, lush paradise, and in the dry season you can feel the warmth of the sun and the cooling breeze from the Pacific Ocean. The rainiest period extends from September to November; in these months roads in the less populated areas can become flooded.

The moisture level varies throughout the seasons. There are also various degrees of moist from the highland to the lowlands, by the coast or in the mountains, in a rainforest, cloud forest (a rainforest that creates and maintains clouds), in a tropical dry forest, and so on.
